2-14-19 Michigan Chemistry Council Welcomes EPA PFAS Action Plan and Calls for Further Federal Leadership

LANSING, MI, February 14, 2019 - The Michigan Chemistry Council (MCC) today welcomed the release of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) Action Plan.

“The MCC looks forward to reviewing this comprehensive action plan and its significance for our state,” said MCC Executive Director John Dulmes. “While Michigan continues to be a trailblazer in many areas of PFAS response, we believe the EPA and other federal agencies are ultimately best-positioned to develop consistent science-based standards, test methods, and guidance. We encourage the EPA to continue to work with the state of Michigan, our members of Congress, and other experts to advance constructive policies as well as public confidence in these actions.”

The Michigan Chemistry Council, established in 1967, represents Michigan’s chemical manufacturers, formulators and distributors. Chemistry is one of Michigan’s largest manufacturing sectors, supporting more than 80,000 Michigan jobs and directly impacting more than 96% of all manufactured goods.

 
12/18/18 - Michigan Chemistry Council Welcomes PFAS Report and Encourages Continued Science Review

LANSING, MI, December 18, 2018 - The Michigan Chemistry Council (MCC) today welcomed the release of a report from the Michigan PFAS Action Response Team (MPART) Science Advisory Panel. The MCC recognizes the comprehensive effort organized by Governor Snyder’s administration to respond to this issue, and also appreciates the work of the Science Advisory Panel to conduct its review on such an accelerated timetable.

“As with other environmental issues, the MCC believes strongly that our state must use the best available science when responding to PFAS,” said MCC Executive Director John Dulmes. “We will be carefully reviewing this external report and how its recommendations contribute to our understanding of PFAS in Michigan as well as the need for further study. We encourage a robust science-based approach and look forward to working constructively on this issue.”

10/22/18 - Michigan Chemistry Council Elects Eight Members to Board of Directors, Including Pfizer's John Manski and Praxair's Bob Reed

LANSING, MI, October 22, 2018 – At its annual membership meeting on October 16th, the Michigan Chemistry Council (MCC) elected eight members to its board of directors, including two members who are joining the MCC board for the first time.

The new members include:

  • John Manski, Director of Process and Product Technology, Pfizer, Kalamazoo
  • Bob Reed, Pipeline Business Manager, Praxair, Ecorse
