As President and CEO of the Michigan Chemistry Council (MCC), Teri Quimby leads the organization’s mission to educate and advocate for the business of chemistry—a sector fundamental to nearly all manufactured goods. The chemistry industry plays a vital role in Michigan’s economy, enhancing daily life and contributing to progress across the state. Appointed to the Michigan Liquor Control Commission in 2011, Teri gained extensive experience collaborating with businesses of all sizes in manufacturing, wholesaling, and retailing. She was recognized by Crain’s Detroit Business as one of Michigan’s Most Notable Women Lawyers in 2017 and received a national trade association award for Extraordinary Innovation, Dedication & Leadership. Teri is known for her transformative leadership, shaped by a blend of strategic innovation, regulatory expertise, and collaborative engagement. Her unique background—consisting of appointments by governors, election by voters, and service on a private company board—demonstrates her dedication to outstanding leadership and effective governance. Teri’s experience covers multiple highly regulated fields, including environmental protection, public utilities, telecommunications, alcohol, and finance. She has built a strong reputation for working with diverse stakeholder groups and building consensus, whether in minority, majority, or co-leadership settings. Teri holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Corporate Law: Compliance & Regulatory Analysis from Widener University Delaware School of Law; a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Thomas M. Cooley Law School; and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from James Madison College at Michigan State University. |
