10/23/17 - Michigan Chemistry Council Celebrates 50th Anniversary and Elects Three New Members to Board of Directors

LANSING, MI, October 23, 2017 – At its annual conference on October 17th, the Michigan Chemistry Council (MCC) celebrated its 50th anniversary as an association. The MCC was established in 1967 by founding member companies, including Dow Chemical, Amway, BASF, and Upjohn.

The MCC marked the occasion at its conference with keynote addresses from Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and American Chemistry Council President & CEO Cal Dooley, and also recognized original founding member Bill Hartman.

The MCC’s membership also elected its annual board of directors, including three members who are joining the MCC board for the first time.

6/29/17 - Michigan Chemistry Council Calls for Careful Scrutiny of Line 5 Alternatives

LANSING, MI, June 29th, 2017 – Michigan Chemistry Council Executive Director John Dulmes today responded to the release of a report examining potential alternatives to the Enbridge Line 5 pipeline:

“We welcome today’s release of the alternatives analysis report. It is an important step toward understanding the tradeoffs of options for delivering the energy that Michigan needs. We recognize there are questions about Line 5, but we also know that pipelines are the safest and most efficient means of moving the resources we rely on.”

3/30/17 - Business groups urge quick passage of piping materials bill to address Michigan’s infrastructure challenges

LANSING, MI, March 30th, 2017 – Passage of a new state law to reform piping standards for public projects would be a move in the right direction for Michigan, said an alliance of business groups in announcing its support for Senate Bill 157. The bill, the “Public Works Quality Procurement Act,” will allow for the consideration of all piping materials that meet performance specifications for state-funded water infrastructure projects.

Michigan is facing a growing problem with our state’s water infrastructure, the coalition members in support of SB 157 include:, the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, the Home Builders Association of Michigan (HBAM) and the Michigan Chemistry Council.
