12/18/18 - Michigan Chemistry Council Welcomes PFAS Report and Encourages Continued Science Review

LANSING, MI, December 18, 2018 - The Michigan Chemistry Council (MCC) today welcomed the release of a report from the Michigan PFAS Action Response Team (MPART) Science Advisory Panel. The MCC recognizes the comprehensive effort organized by Governor Snyder’s administration to respond to this issue, and also appreciates the work of the Science Advisory Panel to conduct its review on such an accelerated timetable.

“As with other environmental issues, the MCC believes strongly that our state must use the best available science when responding to PFAS,” said MCC Executive Director John Dulmes. “We will be carefully reviewing this external report and how its recommendations contribute to our understanding of PFAS in Michigan as well as the need for further study. We encourage a robust science-based approach and look forward to working constructively on this issue.”

The Michigan Chemistry Council, established in 1967, represents Michigan’s chemical manufacturers, formulators and distributors. Chemistry is Michigan’s fifth-largest manufacturing sector, supporting more than 80,000 Michigan jobs and directly impacting more than 96% of all manufactured goods.
